These courses are designed to meet your professional and personal needs and enhance your skills, knowledge, and expertise. Whether you are a full-time student or a working professional, these courses are for you. You don't need a college degree to register. An interest to learn and attend class is all you need.

Linux Certification Self Study Program (60107)

The complete Linux Certification Toolkit is a great resource to help you become familiar with Linux and prepare youself to pass the LPI and Linux+ certification exams, and the Toolkit is yours as your on-going reference guide.

Medical Assistant Administration (90218)

Medical Assistants support physicians and nurses in delivering patient care. An administrative assistant’s tasks consist of keeping medical records, greeting patients, billing and clerical duties, scheduling appointments, arranging for admission to the hospital and laboratory services, and checking supplies. A medical administrative assistant may also be required to perform certain clinical tasks including: documenting vital signs (e.g. blood pressures, pulse, respirations, and temperature), performing simple lab tests, preparing patients for examination, arranging equipment and instruments before an exam, assisting physicians during patient exams, explaining treatment, medications, diet schedules, and procedures to the patient.

Medical Billing and Coding Professional (90220)

Medical billing and coding professionals keep records, calculate patient charges and review files. Duties include: reviewing records; calculating charges for a patient’s procedure and service and preparing itemized statements and submitting claims to third party payers. Medical Coders are responsible for the collection of physician charges and patient data to ensure that claims are submitted to insurance carriers accurately and in the most efficient and expeditious manner.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Program (90219)

Pharmacy Technicians work in pharmacies under the direction of a pharmacist. Their main responsibility is filling prescriptions according to doctors' orders.
Pharmacy Technicians prepare medications for dispensing to patients. This generally includes retrieving drugs in the correct dosage form and strength, measuring the appropriate amount of drug and producing a prescription label. Pharmacy Technicians work with drugs to be administered orally, topically, for the eye, nose, etc. Depending upon the practice setting, a Pharmacy Technician is also involved in the admixture of drugs for intravenous use.

Professional Paralegal Training (Fall 2009) (90217)

This intensive, nationally acclaimed program is designed for beginning as well as experienced legal workers. All students are trained to assist trial attorneys, interview witnesses, investigate complex fact patterns, research the law and help prepare cases for courtroom litigation. The instruction is practice-oriented and relates to those areas of the law in which legal assistants are most in demand.

There are no prerequisites. However, an associate in arts and sciences degree (two-year) or its equivalent is very helpful. Students are expected to complete a significant amount of homework for each weekend session.

This non-credit program helps students increase their office’s efficiency, productivity and billable hours. It also provides students with marketable job skills. Successful graduates (who pass six tests and complete five written assignments) are awarded a Binghamton University Certificate of Completion. Graduates in the top 25 percent of the class receive assistance with volunteer intern placement for on-the-job training.
