Collaborative Symposium

Keynote Speaker

James L. Stone, MSW, former Commissioner New York State Office of Mental Health, Currently the Director of Division of Behavioral, Health Indian Health Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Member of the federal Senior Executive Service (SES) from 2003 to present.

  1. Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Care in Rural Settings
    Dr. Janeice DeSocio, Co-Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Program, University of Rochester
  2. Meeting the Mental Health Needs of Elders
    Mr. Michael Friedman, CSW, Chairman of the Geriatric Mental Health Alliance of New York, an advocacy group dedicated to improving geriatric mental health practice and policy. Group comprised of over 700 members in NYC, Westchester and Albany. The group has focused on issues including the mental health needs of older adults of color and serious mental illnesses and aging.

Break-out content will include topics addressing:

  • Strategies for Managing Dementia
  • Innovative programs for accessing psychiatric services and meeting the needs of diverse populations
  • The impact of resiliency and mental health in rural elders
  • Measuring Cognitive Function in Clinical Research

    Mary Muscari, PhD, Author of Not My Kid: 21 Steps for Raising a Nonviolent Child

Out of State Registrants $50.00, New York State Residents $40.00, and Students $15.00.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Abstracts will be reviewed by sub-committee comprised of program collaborators. Each peer-reviewed presentation will be allotted 30 minutes to allow ample time for presentation and dialogue with the audience.
